The Filipino Women’s Association – UK aims to promote friendship among Filipinos residing in the UK and the British community, and an appreciation and sharing of Filipino culture and values. This friendship has made it possible to share awareness of the needs of the marginalised people in the Philippines. It enabled us to work together to provide education scholarships to high school students in the Philippines who are disadvantaged due to poverty or disability.
We offer support to schools in the Philippines that have been destroyed by natural disasters. We also help to provide livelihood opportunities to women, and health and nutrition to babies and the elderly, among other things.
FWA-UK does not receive public funding. We depend on donations and in order to raise funds for our charitable projects, we hold fund raising activities such as mini Filipino food festival, mini Christmas bazaar, raffle and auctions. Our major fund raising activity is the annual formal “Philippine National Day (PND) Dinner Dance” celebration in June.
These are just some of the projects we are supporting or have supported in the past.
