On 25 August 2025, the Filipino Women’s Association UK (FWA-UK) joined hands once again with the Inner Wheel Club of Rosario Diamond (IWC-RD) to bring compassion and tangible support to the residents of Guanella Home for Special Children in Quezon City, Philippines.
A Community of Care
The Guanella Home is a refuge for individuals with special needs who have been abandoned or brought in by relatives unable to care for them. Ranging in age from 13 to 49, the 18 beneficiaries are lovingly referred to as “children” due to their developmental conditions, which include Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, and other disabilities. Volunteers at the centre dedicate themselves to nurturing these individuals with patience, care, and dignity.
Purpose and Support
With the shared advocacy of uplifting underserved communities, the project provided:
- Health and sanitation essentials: Vitamin C and multivitamins to last nine months
- Grocery and kitchen supplies: rice, noodles, canned goods, cooking oil, eggs, sweet potatoes, and a variety of vegetables
- Daily needs: slippers, soap, and cleaning materials
- Joyful treats: baked bread and beverages for the residents
The initiative was powered by generous funding of ₱71,000.73 from FWA-UK and ₱6,500 from IWC-RD .

An Afternoon of Joy
The program opened with heartfelt messages from IWC leaders and was filled with music and dance that highlighted the talents of the residents. Performances included:
- Dance and song numbers by persons with disabilities
- A lively dance with mascot SpongeBob that brought delight to everyone
- Inspirational words from IWC-RD leaders reminding all present of the power of compassion
The day concluded with the distribution of goods, shared snacks, and moments of fellowship captured in photos that reflected gratitude and happiness.

Shared Mission, Shared Impact
This project stood as another testament to the ongoing partnership between FWA-UK and IWC-RD in living out the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through community-focused actions. By addressing both immediate needs and fostering joy, Operation Pagmamahal created lasting memories and reaffirmed the commitment to care for those most in need.
FWA-UK and IWC-RD extend heartfelt thanks to all donors, members, and volunteers who made this endeavour possible. Together, we continue to demonstrate that love truly lifts, and care genuinely heals.
