On Saturday, 7th June 2025, the Filipino Women’s Association UK (FWA-UK) proudly hosted its annual Philippine National Day Dinner & Dance Gala at the elegant Palace Suite of the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London. With over 300 guests in attendance, the evening was a vibrant celebration of heritage, unity, and giving back.
This year’s theme, “Reopening Opportunities for Students with Disabilities,” shone a spotlight on one of our most important missions: to provide educational access and support to those too often left behind. The theme resonated powerfully throughout the night, reminding us of the transformative impact of compassion and community.
The evening began with a warm welcome and a short prayer led by founding member and current adviser Nenita Garrad, setting the tone for a night of celebration with purpose. Guests were then treated to door prizes, generously donated by supporters and businesses in the Filipino community—setting off smiles and cheers early on.

A three-course dinner followed, accompanied by soft musical entertainment and camaraderie among friends, families, and new acquaintances. The room came alive once more with the Best Dressed Awards, judged by our distinguished Platinum and Silver Sponsors, who had the difficult task of selecting just two standout guests in a sea of elegance.

We were honoured by the presence of Consul General Rhenita Rodriguez, who delivered an inspiring message on behalf of the Philippine Embassy in London. Later in the evening, Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. and Madame Louie Locsin joined us, further gracing the celebration with their presence.

A musical highlight of the evening came from the Haraya Choir, whose performance of traditional Filipino folk songs was met with awe and admiration. Their artistry, spirit, and message reminded everyone of the rich tapestry of Filipino culture.

Then came the highly anticipated raffle draw, where lucky winners walked away with prizes up to £500—all in support of our scholarship programmes.

The dance floor was officially opened with a fiery tango performance by Linda Celestial and Cuan Dirkin, who proved yet again that elegance and passion have no age limit. Guests danced the night away to the lively sounds of the Freeway Band, closing the evening in true Filipino fashion—joyful, generous, and full of life.

To our guests, sponsors, performers, volunteers, and supporters—thank you. Your presence and generosity are helping FWA-UK continue its mission of educational empowerment and community support.
Until the next celebration—mabuhay, and maraming salamat!
