The FWA-UK conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Sunday, 17th September 2023 at the Albert Suite, The Royal Garden Hotel, 2 – 24 High Street Kensington, London W8 4PT.
The programme started with a prayer led by Glyndell Belmonte, followed by the Chairman’s and Treasurer’s reports and members’ Q&As.
This was her third term as a Chairman and she said,
The last twelve months has been challenging but rewarding year for our Association, as we continued to pursue our mission of advancing the education of underprivileged children at home and promoting the well-being of Filipino Women in the UK. Despite the ‘cost of living crises’ we were able to carry out various charitable projects and activities that benefited our scholars, our members and our community.
Special acknowledgements were also made for the Officers and Trustees who have completed their terms or have resigned:
- Crystal Dias, Vice-Chairman for Internal Affairs
- Lydia Sumang, who led the Outreach Committee
The second part of the programme proceeded with the election of the members of the Board who gathered and elected a new set of members. The election was conducted and supervised by former Chairman Clarita Richardson, along with members Raquel Scrivens, Lydia Peters, Kerima Harris, and Elsie De Jesus. After the election, the elected and current members of the Board held a special meeting and formed a new set of officers for 2023 – 2024.
