FWA-UK’s ‘GETTING TO KNOW YOU’ Afternoon Tea Party for Members

The Membership and Personal Development Committee (MPDC) headed by Linda Challis organised the FWA-UK afternoon tea party held last Saturday, 30th July at the Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington, London. This event was open and free to all its members and friends as a gesture of appreciation for their continued support and loyalty.

Held in the usual spirit of FWA-UK camaraderie, the Executive Board members were very excited to welcome prospective new members as well as acknowledge their old members.

The afternoon started with a short prayer led by Clarita Richardson, followed by the incumbent Chairman, Dulia Prado, who made the welcome note and introduced the members of the Executive Board.  The MC for the event, Ira Lehmann, gave updates on the accomplishments and projects being undertaken by each committee. She also announced the forthcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled for the 18th of September 2022 at St Mary Abbott Centre, Vicarage Gate, London W8 4HN.  Linda Challis provided details of the forthcoming summer fun day trip to Portsmouth, planned for the 27th of August 2022.  Arlene Morley, Vice-Chair for External Affairs, delivered a short talk to explain the conducted survey held that afternoon which aimed to provide information on how members can actively participate and contribute to the group’s projects and activities.

There was a mini raffle draw, where winners enjoyed their gift prizes such as £50.00 cash, as the first prize from Imee Pinto; other cash prizes and items were donated by generous donors.

Guests were delighted and relished the sumptuous lunch served, as well as desserts of assorted cakes and delicacies.

Overall, it was an enjoyable afternoon for everyone. Some invitees took the opportunity to sign up as members such as Marcelina Lim, Lilia Senires, Jennifer Oliveros, and Nelia Hiwatig. Amelia de Luna and Lisa Tripoli applied online, while Christine Geocaniga has renewed her membership.

KUDOS to the working group members, the donors, and the attendees that made this event a success!
