A Joyous Celebration of Filipino Culture: Recap of FWA-UK’s Salo-Salo Event

On Sunday, 21st April 2024, the Filipino Women’s Association in the UK (FWA-UK) hosted a vibrant and unforgettable Salo-Salo event at the St Mary Abbots Centre in Kensington. The event was a heartwarming celebration of Filipino culture, bringing together members of the community for a day filled with camaraderie, delicious food, cultural showcases, and meaningful connections.

Opening Prayer and Welcome
The event commenced with a soulful opening prayer led by FWA-UK veteran member and former Chairman, Dulia Prado. Her heartfelt words set the tone for the day, invoking blessings and unity among all attendees. Following the prayer, Secretary Ira Lehmann, as the host of the event, welcomed everyone with enthusiasm and gratitude, setting the stage for an exciting and memorable day ahead.

Inspirational Message and Welcome Address
Dr. Remy Reyes, the Founding Chairman and Adviser of FWA-UK, shared an inspirational message and a brief history of the FWA journey, reminding us of the organisation’s roots and the collective journey towards empowerment and community building. This was followed by a warm welcome address from our Chairman, Velly Cattermole, whose words of encouragement and appreciation resonated with everyone present.

Salo-Salo Lunch and Networking
The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the Salo-Salo lunch, where attendees indulged in a mouthwatering spread of Filipino delicacies. As the aroma of adobo and pancit filled the air, guests engaged in lively conversations, catching up with old friends and making new ones.
