Outreach Event: Afternoon Tea Party

By: Nieves Bates, Publicity Committee Lead

Once again, The Outreach & Community Affairs Committee held another successful fun time afternoon at Bugis Brasserie of the Copthorne/Tara Hotel, Kensington, London on the 6th November 2022. Nothing could dampen the spirits of those who attended the tea party despite of a very wet and gloomy afternoon. The heavy rain did not deter our senior members of FWA-UK and their old folks to enjoy what turned up to be a very pleasant afternoon. There are more or less 35-40 people who attended.

Pat Shah said a short prayer followed by serving delicious roast chicken, pizza, various sandwiches, salad, cakes, tea and coffee including a sumptuous Arroz Valenciana donated by a new member, Mrs. Lily Horgan and Empanada donated by Ms. Chelo Valencia, were all laid on the table that brought delight and relished by our elderly friends who got together for this pleasurable afternoon.

There is no doubt, Bingo always gives a great amusement to everyone. On behalf of Mrs. Lydia Sumang who was unfortunately not able to attend the afternoon tea due to the heavy rains and as being advised by her family not to go out to avoid further risk of her already vulnerable health, Misses Grace Pineda and Mary Rose Laurea both members of Maniland Glamour UK vivaciously led the Bingo Bonanza. Prizes were donated by members of the FWA-UK and the grand prize of £100.00 was donated from the participating members and was won by Ms. Eva Macadangdang. With my great delight I also won a prize which was donated by Ms. Nanie Tamayo a nice set of orange beads necklace with a matching bracelet boxed in a beautiful bamboo woven square caddy.

I could see that there is a big presence from members of the Maniland Glamour UK. Also present are Dr. Remy Reyes, Mesdames Clarita Richardson, Imee Pinto, Pat Shah, Eva Macadangdang, Eleanor Templeman, Adelina Duenas, Nannie Tamayo, Zanie del Mundo, Nelly Teves Marshall, myself of course and many more. Some new members were also present together with their English husbands.

A big thank you to the Organisers led by Mrs. Lydia Sumang fondly called Baby or Babes and her indefatigable members of the Outreach and Community Affairs Committee.
