Last night, members of the FWA-UK Outreach Committee were back on the streets of central London — walking through Tottenham Court Road alongside their partners at Under One Sky to share food packs, hot drinks, clothing, and essential items with people experiencing homelessness.
Leading the effort were Outreach Committee Chair Lesley Laroche, alongside committee members Kristine Mae Brennan and Kristine Inocencio — giving their Tuesday evening so that people sleeping rough in the heart of the city could feel seen, warm, and a little less alone.

A Partnership Built on Shared Purpose
Under One Sky (also known as Skywalker Under One Sky) is a London-based outreach organisation dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness across the city. Their regular street walks bring volunteers together to distribute food, hot drinks, clothing, and essential items — and crucially, to take the time to stop, talk, and listen.
FWA-UK’s Outreach Committee first partnered with Under One Sky in January 2026, joining them on a cold Tuesday night in central London. Armed with flasks of hot tea and coffee, care-packed sandwiches, and warm clothing, the team — guided by Fernanda, Madame Chairwoman Glyndell Belmonte, Kristine Inocencio, and Lesley Laroche — stepped into the night with one shared goal: to support individuals sleeping rough and remind them that they are seen and valued.
That first outing left a mark. As the committee reflected afterwards: “There is something profoundly humbling about standing in the cold and realising that what feels like a small gesture to us can bring immense comfort, relief, and dignity to someone else.”

Beyond the Street
The Outreach Committee’s work doesn’t stop at street outreach. In February 2026, the team visited Lawrie Park Lodge, an elderly residential home in Lewisham — joining residents for tea, conversation, music, and dancing. What began as a quiet afternoon visit became, in the words of those who were there, something much more: laughter filling the room, familiar songs sung together, residents clapping along and coming alive.
Outreach, in all its forms, is one of FWA-UK’s most enduring expressions of bayanihan — the Filipino tradition of coming together as a community to support one another and those around us.

Small Acts. Real Impact.
Small acts may not change the world overnight. But they can remind someone that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten. And sometimes, that is exactly what is needed.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, energy, and compassion.
