Promoting Physical And Mental Well-Being for Senior Citizens in the Community

Supported by:

We are excited to announce our Outreach Committee aimed at improving the physical and mental well-being of senior citizens in the community will be organising a series of Zumba dance classes that will take place at the Artist Corner of the Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington starting from 5th March 2023.

Zumba is a popular dance fitness programme that combines aerobic exercise with Latin American music and dance moves. It is a fun and engaging way to get moving, and it can have numerous physical and mental health benefits. Zumba has been shown to improve cardiovascular health, balance, coordination, and flexibility, as well as reducing stress and boosting mood.

Each Zumba lesson will last for an hour, and participants are advised to come in appropriate exercise clothing. The classes will be led by a certified Zumba instructor, who will guide participants through a series of dance routines that are suitable for all levels of fitness and mobility. There will be plenty of opportunities to modify the moves and take breaks as needed.

This initiative is about more than just physical fitness however; it’s also about building community and connecting with others. We believe that the social aspect of our programme is just as important as the physical aspect. Our Zumba classes provide an opportunity for seniors to meet new people, make friends, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with participating in a group activity.

In addition to the physical benefits of Zumba, the classes will also provide an opportunity for seniors to socialise and connect with others in the community. Loneliness and social isolation can have a significant impact on mental health, particularly among elder adults, and our outreach programme aims to address this by providing a welcoming and inclusive space for seniors to come together and have fun.

We are committed to making the Zumba classes accessible to all seniors in the community, regardless of their financial situation. Thanks to the generous support of the National Lottery Community Fund, we are able to offer the classes free of charge.

At the heart of our outreach programme is a commitment to improving the health and well-being of senior citizens in the community. We believe that by providing opportunities for physical activity, social connection, and fun, we can help seniors live happier and healthier lives.

We encourage anyone interested in participating in the Zumba classes to contact Lydia at 07883 024325 to register. Spaces are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

We look forward to seeing you at our Zumba classes.
